The First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe has officially been unveiled as the new Zanu-PF Women's League Secretary at the party's 6th National People's Congress in Harare.
Dr Mugabe, who was endorsed by the Women's League, the Youth League and all provinces, takes over from the Minister of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development, Oppah Muchinguri.
Accepting the appointment, the First Lady pledged to work for the development of the party and thanked all who have supported her ascension to the Women's League summit.
She however castigated underfire Vice President, Dr Joice Mujuru for despising her and wanting her out of mainstream politics.
"When the motion for my elevation was moved, it is not everyone who supported me. Amai Mujuru vakati pembe yapihwa benzi [VP Mujuru said the whistle has been given to a mad person], but I was not moved by that. Just as a referee blows the whistle when a player fouls an opponent or is offside, I started blowing the whistle for her as she was offside. I felt that war credentials she possesses don't give her impunity, that is not a licence for corruption and extortion," said Dr Mugabe.
The First Lady said she had no intention to expose VP Mujuru's ills to the public even if they knew about everything she was doing, but was pushed by Dr Mujuru's greediness for both power and wealth.
She added that it is unfortunate that VP Mujuru's political career in Zanu-PF has ended this way.
Dr Mujuru and others accused of plotting the ouster of President Robert Mugabe did not attend the congress.
