Vice President Joice Mujuru last night denied a plot to assassinate President Robert Mugabe and insisted the veteran nationalist is being misled by people who have infiltrated Zanu-PF.

In a statement, Mujuru described allegations her as unfounded and lies.

She said she feels compelled to correct these unsubstantiated statements misconceptions and lies communicated to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Comrade R G Mugabe and the general public.

She said a vociferous attempt has been made to portray her as a traitor, murderer and sell out yet not a single iota of evidence has been produced to give credence to the allegations.

Mujuru said her agents were wrongfully and unlawfully prevented from submitting her nomination papers for the congress and subsequently the state media and newspapers advised her that her life was at risk if she attends the congress.

She indicated that she is loyal to the President and her party.
