Former Zanu PF national chairman Simon Khaya Moyo could have known of his demotion a week before President Mugabe appointed his two deputies and members of the politburo.
Moyo for long considered a front runner to succeed the Late John Nkomo as Zanu PF second Vice President, was this Wednesday appointed party spokesperson by President Robert Mugabe a position formerly occupied by Rugare Gumbo who was expelled from the party last week.
Mugabe appointed Zipra veteran Phelekezela Mphoko and Justice Minister Emmerson Mnangagwa as his two deputies with Mnangagwa replacing Joice Mujuru accused of plotting to assassinate the Zanu PF leader.
"As all of our terms of office are drawing to an end, let us be grateful and be honoured to have had the opportunity to serve Zanu PF and Zimbabwe," said Moyo last Thursday while giving welcome remarks at the Zanu PF congress.
"People remain supreme, let's accept whatever further deployment we may be given and carry out those duties with exemplary discipline and precision with deliverable goals of Zim-Asset being prominent in our minds, together we can't fail.
"Let's us give our unwavering support to our iconic President Cde RG Mugabe and the First Family, let us pray for their long life, to be blessed with more outpouring of wisdom, good leadership and victory against all foes, glory be to God."
