A 38-year-old Epworth man, husband to Junica Chitanda recently convicted of dealing in dangerous drugs, after police officers recovered 72 kilogrammes from the duo, has been nabbed.
Justice Matambanadzo who was reportedly on the run, following his wife's arrest, was on Friday brought before magistrate Tendai Mahwe, charged with dealing in dangerous drugs.
He is in custody and due back in court today.
For the state, Fransisca Mukumbiri alleged that on March 15 at around 1700 hours, police detectives from the CID drugs and narcotics section received a tip-off that one, Elizabeth Kwashi, was dealing in drugs.
Acting on the information, police detectives proceeded to house number 613 Magada Road in Epworth, where they located the suspect.
Kwashi subsequently led the police detectives to her place of residence and a search was then instituted, leading to the recovery of four sacks of dagga.
On March 27, the court heard that, Kwashi was arraigned before a Harare magistrate, Milton Serima who acquitted her of the charges after she had stated that, the dagga belonged to Matambanadzo and his wife, Chitanda.
However, police efforts to apprehend Matambanadzo in connection with the offence had proved fruitless, until last week.
Chitanda is currently serving time in prison after she was sentenced to 18 months in jail.
