A bid by MDC-T Secretary General Douglas Mwonzora for the permanent release of his passport which was confiscated following his pending case of alleged theft of trust funds has been thrown out of the court.
Mwonzora stands accused of stealing US$15 000 in trust funds and is out of custody on US$500 bail.
The prominent lawyer appeared before Harare magistrate, Milton Serima and was further remanded to January 22, next year.
In his application, Mwonzora sought the permanent release of his passport, arguing that he intended to travel during the festive season.
Prosecutor, Sebastian Mutizirwa opposed the application saying the court's decision to withhold Mwonzora's passport is an endorsement of the state's fears.
In his ruling, Serima highlighted it is premature for the permanent release of Mwonzora's passport.
