Rowdy youths aligned to Morgan Tsvangirai disrupted a well-attended Orange Day held at Unit L Hall in Chitungwiza on Saturday assaulting the National Organising Secretary of the Youth Wing, Thabani Mlambo, Kamurendo and six others.

Yesterday, the same people aligned to Morgan Tsvangirai allegedly assaulted the District Organiser for Chitungwiza South, James Chihoto who sustained serious injuries and was taken to Chitungwiza Hospital.

A source told Bulawayo24 that "the perpetrators of violence include Jim Ravhanga and Yusuf Andrea who are members of Tsvangirai's security, Wellington Tapfumanei and Delma Kahati, who are known members of the structures of Tsvangirai's fascist party."

"The incident clearly shows that Tsvangirai's group is not repentant following the violence perpetrated against Renewal Team members including the Treasurer General Elton Mangoma."

"The Renewal Team condemns violence in all its forms; as democrats we urge our former colleagues to refrain from violence.

"We also condemn in the strongest terms the inability of the police to act decisively on this matter and arrest the perpetrators whose names and places of residence have been provided.

"This leads to the suspicion that the two groups, Tsvangirai and the police are working in cohorts against the Renewal Team to destruct it from its main agenda which is offering an alternative political party of choice and giving real hope to the people of Zimbabwe.

"The acts of violence are clearly signs of desperation by Tsvangirai and his Party, they also demonstrate that Tsvangirai has completely departed from the founding principles of non - violence, peace and love.

"Tsvangirai and his group claim to be real democrats and yet violence is their modus operandi Violent disturbances will not deter the Renewal Team's efforts to actively exemplify the founding values of the Movement for Democratic Change as outlined at the National Working People's Convention.

"We call upon the police to be vigilant in carrying out their work particularly as it pertains to bringing the perpetrators of political violence to book. We call upon the police to protect the citizen's rights to freedom of movement, choice and association as enshrined in the country's constitution. We finally call upon the police to discharge their duties in a fair manner as enshrined in the same constitution."
