Government will soon move in to evict thousands of people who invaded farms across the country in the run-up to harmonised elections last year, Lands and Rural Resettlement minister Douglas Mombeshora said this week.

Mombeshora said that government would compensate black farmers who lost their land through the often chaotic Land Reform programme in the past decade and half.

He said his ministry would next year embark on a comprehensive land audit.

In the meantime he said, his ministry would deal with ease case as it comes, regarding the issue of indigenous land owners.

Government according to the Lands minister had also realised that there are black farmers who were being used by white farmers who were being used by white farmers, especially after 2000 as fronts to remain on the farms.
