Authorities in Zimbabwe have stepped up efforts to recover about $3 million lost in an intricate fuel scam involving top officials at state transporter CMED.
According to Prosecutor-General Johannes Tomana, authorities in Zimbabwe were in negotiations with their counterparts in Hong Kong and South Africa in an attempt to recover millions of dollars lost in the scandal in which a former Cabinet minister was allegedly involved.
Tomana said investigations are continuing and they have embarked on extra-territorial investigations to recover the money.
Quizzed on how long the process might take and the prospects of recovering the money, Tomana said it was independent on the extent to which authorities in the two countries were willing to cooperate.
