Zimondi found guilty

The High Court yesterday convicted Pritchard Zimondi of murder for fatally stabbing his girlfriend, Monalisa Chinomona, 14 times with a kitchen knife in Chitungwiza in April 2012.

In her judgement, in a packed courtroom, Justice Hlekani Mwaera said Zimondi's defence outline was full of inconsistences and ruled that the defence arguments of three other witnesses who included the accused's mother, Grace Zimondi and his aunt Julia Chineka were also vague.

Mwaera also noted that the other 12 witnesses' testimonies were straight forward with no intention to fabricate issues, sentence to be delivered today.
