ACTING President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said Government will soon hunt and prosecute individuals, party members and senior Government officials fingered in corruption.
His remarks follow the issuing yesterday of search warrants on ousted Vice President Joice Mujuru and party members like, Rugare Gumbo, Francis Nhema, Ray Kaukonde, who were kicked out of Zanu-PF for allegedly trying to topple the 90year old President Mugabe.
Speaking at the re-launch of the handover of the A1 settlement permits at Driefontein Mission in Chirumhanzu, Mnangagwa said corruption has been stifling development and economic recovery.
He warned others who have been covering their prints that the long arm of the law would soon be knocking on their doorsteps.
Mnangagwa, also known as crocodile, was one of the masterminds behind the brutal Gukurahundi massacre that left at least 20 000civillians dead in Matabeleland and parts of Midlands.
He said government would soon embark on a massive and merciless crackdown on corrupt individuals.
Mnangagwa said President Mugabe had instructed Government officials to weed out corrupt elements and ensure economic recovery was back on track.
I would like to warn all corrupt individuals that they should stop right now because things have changed.
You might have escaped before but this time we are going to descend on anyone fingered in corruption. As for those who have already been fingered, we are not going to forgive them, said Mnangagwa.
We do not want people who reap what they did not sow and what others have laboured for. Some people amass wealth and enrich themselves at the expense of the general populace.
We will not show any mercy when dealing with issues of corruption. President has given us powers to deal with corruption decisively, he said.
His comments came in the wake of intensified investigations into allegations of corruption and abuse of office levelled against former Vice President Dr Joice Mujuru, who was recently fired from Government after being accused of behaviour inconsistent with the discharge of her duties.
