More than 12 houses were destroyed by a hailstorm in Goromonzi, leaving villagers stranded as food and agricultural inputs were soaked in water.
Villagers in Ward 12, Goromonzi North constituency were left counting their losses as a hailstorm brought down houses to the ground with crops, agricultural inputs and trees were destroyed.
Most of the affected villagers are forced to squat in some of the remaining huts but with no food to eat.
Goromonzi North legislator, Paddy Zhanda expressed sorrow on the development, saying there is need for well-wishers to move in swiftly to assist the victims.
Clothes, roofing sheets and food stuffs were strewn all over the village while trees were also destroyed, showing the intensity of the storm which also destroyed the maize crop in a neighbouring farm.
The rains that have hit some parts of the country have brought a ray of relief for some, and disappointment on others.
The scotching heat had dampened the initial stages of the 2014/15 agricultural season.
