Duo jailed for illegal possession of cannabis

TWO Nyanga men, Tendai Mufudza and Eutropia Shonhiwa were last week jailed for five years each for illegal possession of cannabis (mbanje) weighing 17,5kg.
Mufudza (27) and Shonhiwa (33), both from the Ruwangwe area in Nyanga, were convicted on their plea of guilty to the offence when they appeared before magistrate Ignatio Mhene last Thursday.
The court initially slapped each of them with seven-year jail terms but then suspended two years on condition of good behaviour.
The men were intercepted and arrested at a police checkpoint at Nyamhuka I in Nyanga on December 17 this year as they were transporting their cannabis on a Harare-bound bus.
