Festive season death toll rises to 35

HARARE - Festive season death toll has risen from 31 to 35 though the figure still lower than the 2013 statistics which stood at 41 during the same period.

Police spokesperson, Paul Nyathi said four people died during the Unity Day holiday down from 10 who perished last year on the same national holiday, raising the total number of road facilities to 35.

Nyathi said on the Unity Day holiday police issued 7 479 tickets for various traffic violations bringing the total number of tickets issued to 59 629 for the festive season.

He said 1 462 vehicles have been impounded countrywide for various defects.
