Govt urged to intensify fight against corruption

The Indigenous Business Development Centre (IBDC) says government should intensify the fight against corruption as a way of attracting foreign direct investment.
Reflecting on the performance of the economy in 2014, IBDC says the economy has not done well owing to a number of challenges ranging from liquidity constraints to high tariffs.
This development has seen more than 4 000 companies closing shop resulting in loss of employment to 55 000 people.
IBDC vice president Cliff Chafausipo said there is need for government to fight corruption which has been a major drawback in attracting foreign direct investment.
The closure of firms has also been attributed to poor management style as executives would pocket unrealistic salaries at the expense of businesses.
The economy is still faced with a number of challenges that require stakeholders participation if the country will record double digit growth.
