Beer consumers have received an early New Year's gift following Delta Beverages announcement that starting on Monday beer prices will go down in line with the reduction in excise duty on clear beer as announced in the 2015 budget.
The reduction in price is effective 29th December and will see pints costing 90 cents while quarts will cost US$1.55 cents per unit, representing a 13 percent reduction from the September price.
This is the second reduction in three months after the beverages company reduced prices owing to pressure posed by opaque beer in September.
In a statement released by the beverages concern, general manager for the lager beer Dr Munya Nyandoro said the reduction is in line with the decrease in excise duty of clear beer from 45 percent to 40 percent as announced by the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Cde Patrick Chinamasa.
The beverages corporation says it is committed to delivering their brands at affordable prices while it is their hope that the new pricing model will support the new bond currency effected by the central bank on the 18th of this month.
