A SUSPECTED CHEATING couple ran out of luck in Southerton last Friday when they were caught caressing in a parked car. It seems the two had turned their battered white Datsun (reg no. 335 - 954) into a cozy love nest as they took time to generate some heat in a passionate lip locking session that left tongues wagging.
The drama unfolded around sunset along Plymouth road where Rodrick Mureverwi, 29, and Fortunate Chambwa, 24, caught the attention of fellow motorists and passersby. However, Rodrick, who resides at House No. 1959 Budiriro 1, sped off abandoning his lover in a cloud of dust, H-Metro reported.
The reasons for his actions could not be established. A mortified Fortunate tried to quash allegations of their suspected illicit affair saying. "We are related, Rodrick is my aunt's son and he told me that he once got married before divorcing after some complications.
"I met him when I was coming from Matlock and he gave me a lift before he gave me US$1 which I used for transport. "How can I be in a love relationship with my son after all he knows my husband although he does not know where we are currently staying," said Fortunate.
Unfortunately, Fortunate did not realise that reporters have been monitoring them after a tip-off since it was believed to be their second time to rendezvous at the place. When further probed as to the justification for the alleged smoochings, Fortunate shifted goal-posts saying.
"He is my longtime friend and I have known him since I was staying with my sister in Warren Park, "If my husband gets wind of this I will be in hot soup because he is jealousy. But who knows what he will be doing with other women when I am not around. "He (Fortunate's husband) has been calling on my mobile just now so I have to rush home," she said.
However, Roderick's wife - only identified as Mai Anesu - said she has been suspecting her husband.
"To be honest, I started suspecting that my husband was cheating on me when he started coming home late saying he had been out with his friends. "My suspicions arose when I found a picture of a lady in his mobile phone. He recently repossessed money that he had given to me to for safekeeping claiming that he wanted to repair his car.
"So far, he has spent more than US$600 on the said repairs and I am very worried. The woman, a staunch Bethsaida Apostolic Church follower said she had a vision which translates to the trying times she is going through. "I had a dream in which I was fighting with an unidentified lady and I told my husband who brushed it off. He must respect our marriage and our two kids," said Mai Anesu.
In another interview, Rodrick confirmed that Mai Anesu has never met Fortunate saying on the day in question they were only fooling around. "It was my second time meeting Fortunate after a long time as we grew up together in the village, "She was coming from Mbare and she phoned me before we met and she asked me to buy recharge airtime cards for her Telecel line.
"I had US$2 which I changed before giving her US$1 for transport. We are related although I do not know her husband. She told me that she is married and stays in Rugare. "People can be suspicious because we are of the same age and I have met her for the second time," said Rodrick. In his mobile, Fortunate is saved as Mainini Fortu and he promised to make an effort to meet her husband to clear the air.
After the interview, Fortunate called reporters asking to speak to her husband who declined that we visit them at home. The man who identified himself as Brighton claims that he works at Hands Motors.
"We have been receiving some threats about our family and we are wary of inviting people to our home. "Better call me tomorrow so that we meet somewhere in town but my wife told me that she was given transport last Friday by her relative whom I am familiar with," said Brighton.
