The Minister of Welfare Services for War Veterans, War Collaborators, Former Political Detainees and Restrictees, Chris Mutsvangwa has distanced himself and the war veterans association from the Crowhill saga which is now before the courts.

Speaking to the ZBC, Mutsvangwa urged parties involved to  remain calm as the matter is now before the courts and let the law take its course.

He said war veterans were at the forefront of the land reform programme but it is unfortunate that some people are now encroaching into pieces of land that were allocated to these freedom fighters.

Regarding the statements made by one of the parties involved in the Crowhill saga that as chairman of war veterans he is aware of the wrangle, Mutsvangwa said the war veterans have only one spokesperson, who is Mandi Chimene.

He said Chimene is the only one to make official statements on behalf of the association and no other persons are authorised to do so.

The legal battle of the 450-hectares Borrowdale residential land will be decided tomorrow after hearing of an urgent chamber application filed by Crowhill Company Private Limited was postponed.

Justice Esther Muremba presided over an urgent chamber application led by Cephas Msipa Junior for Crowhill Company Private Limited.

The company is seeking the immediate eviction of Ms Cythia Maadza  and war veterans occupying the disputed land on the basis that they have no legal basis to be occupying it.
