Vic Falls to host Mugabe's 91st birthday gig

THE 21st February Movement celebrations marking President Mugabe's 91st birthday will be hosted by Matabeleland North province and will be held in the resort town of Victoria Falls.

This was announced by Zanu-PF Matabeleland North provincial youth chairperson Tamuka Nyoni during a Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting held in Lupane on Saturday.

"We've been informed that this year, the President's birthday will be held in the province, specifically in Victoria Falls. We know that this is a programme for the youth, but we appeal to our leaders to assist us in hosting the event," Nyoni said.

He said the youth needed to be orderly as they wanted to make sure the event was a success.

"No date has been given yet, but now that the holidays are over, we want to meet and set up a committee towards the celebrations. We hope that we will get cooperation, particularly from leaders in Victoria Falls," Nyoni said.

Zanu-PF Matabeleland North provincial chairman Richard Moyo said the Provincial Executive Council (PEC) would also convene to find ways to assist the youths. "This is a very important event and we need to assist the youths in making sure that everything goes smoothly," Moyo said.
