Zimbabwe's press headlines were Monday dominated by speculation that President Robert Mugabe is likely to step down in March and leave one of his deputies in charge as well as news of the trail of destruction caused by widespread rains that triggered flooding in parts of the country.
The Daily News carried a front-page article in which it quoted ruling Zanu-PF member Energy Mutodi as saying Mugabe would step down in March and allow first Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa to take over.
The paper also quoted Mutodi as saying First Lady Grace Mugabe would be elevated to the vice presidency once Mnangagwa is appointed Zimbabwe's new president.
Mugabe is away on annual vacation and is widely expected to announce a cabinet reshuffle when he returns later this month.
All the daily papers reported on the devastation caused by heavy rains that have lashed Zimbabwe since the beginning of the year.
The country's Civil Protection Unit has deployed teams to flood-prone districts following the drowning of at least 10 people and displacement of thousands of families by floods since New Year's Eve.
