The Minister of Home Affairs, Kembo Mohadi says his ministry will continue to pursue talks with the South African government to see if the issuing of work permits for Zimbabweans can be done gradually throughout the year as migration is a continuous process.

The development was ignited by speculations that South Africa will deport all foreigners who failed to renew permits issued under the Zimbabwe Special Project in 2010.

South Africa had also set 31 December 2014 as the deadline for Zimbabweans based in South Africa to hand in their applications under the Special Permit Application.

However, Minister Mohadi confirmed that Zimbabwe will be pursuing talks with their South African counterparts to ensure the documentation process is conducted throughout the year 2015.

The Minister noted that the decision lies with the South African government, and not Zimbabwe, but hoped that talks will yield positive results.
