Armed robbers target churches

Police have expressed concern over rampant cases in which armed robbers were targeting churches and stealing money especially at night.

Several churches in and around Harare have lost undisclosed amounts of money and property to criminals.

Most churches do not deposit their money with banks and instead prefers to keep it in safes and offices.

Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba has urged churches to regularly deposit their money with financial institutions to avoid such cases.

She also urged members of the public to be vigilant and report suspicious persons to the police.
