The Mashonaland East provincial interim executive committee has been dissolved and a 15-member interim executive committee elected.

The new executive committee is being led by former Mashonaland East Governor and Resident Minister, Aeneas Chigwedere, who is deputised by Mashonaland East Minister of State, Joel Biggie Matiza.

This follows the meeting held between Zanu-PF National Political Commissar Saviour Kasukuwere and the Mashonaland East interim executive committee in Marondera today.

Speaking during the meeting Kasukuwere said the province should come up with new structures, adding that a new substantive provincial executive should be in place by April.

The meeting by Kasukuwere is part of an ongoing nationwide exercise aimed at resolving sticky issues at provincial and district levels.

This follows votes of no confidence that rocked the party in some provinces last year, leading to the suspension of some members from the central committee, provincial and district structures for their alleged involvement in the plot to illegally oust President Robert Mugabe from power.
