A JILTED man yesterday told the court that his wife was now sleeping with their two children on their matrimonial bed to avoid being intimate with him.

Tinashe Mutandwa claimed Geraldine Hlabangana was no longer treating him like her husband ever since he lost his job.

Mutandwa revealed his ordeal at the Harare Civil Court where Hlabangana was seeking a protection order against him.

"She is now in the habit of taking our two children aged six and nine into our bedroom to sleep on my position because she no longer wants to be intimate with me," he said.

Mutandwa said since he lost his job, life has not been easy for him at home.

"My wife is no longer interested in me anymore and this all started after I lost my job. I think she feels shy to be a wife to an unemployed man."

Mutandwa said he was not opposed to Hlabangana's application since he was not doing anything bad against her.

Hlabangana had submitted that Mutandwa was "a very violent man" who was in the habit of coming home drunk, harassing her and the children.

"This man is in the habit of physically and verbally abusing me with vulgar words in the presence of our two minor children," she said.

Hlabangana also told magistrate Mr Brighton Pabwe that she left their matrimonial home because of Mutandwa's bad behaviour.

"I want this honourable court to bar him from coming to my place of residence because he is making my life horrible," she said.

Mr Pabwe granted the order by consent which barred Mutandwa from physically or verbally abusing Hlabangana.

He ordered Mutandwa to keep peace towards Hlabangana at all times.
