Most provinces in the south and western parts of the country are likely to experience poor crop yields if the regions do not receive rains by next week, farming experts have said.
Zimbabwe Farmers Union spokesperson Abdul Nyathi said the southern regions have fallen prey to mid-season droughts which may result in crop failure in these areas.
Matebeleland South, Matebeleland North, Masvingo and some parts of Midlands will lose their crops to the dry spells that have hit the regions after the first rains.
Nyathi said if there is no precipitation in the area at least by the beginning of next week they could be looking at a very severe drought.
