Thirteen people died this Tuesday, nine on the spot and four others on admission at Rusape General Hospital when a commuter omnibus they were travelling in burst its rear tyre and veered-off the road, forcing the driver to lose control of the vehicle before it overturned and rolled twice at the 184-kilometre peg along the Harare- Mutare highway.
Ten other passengers sustained serious injuries and are being treated at Rusape General Hospital.
Manicaland police spokesperson, Inspector Leonard Chabata confirmed the accident which occurred near Rusape.
Inspector Chabata urged motorists to desist from speeding and to abide by road regulations.
The commuter omnibus which was carrying 23 passengers was coming from Mutare heading to Harare.
The accident comes barely four days after another horrific accident also involving a commuter omnibus claimed 19 lives along the Harare–Concession highway.
