Jilted man murders rival suitor over girlfriend

FAILURE to accept the end of a love affair saw a jilted Wengezi man fatally stabbing his rival on Sunday.

It is alleged that Tamia Mlambo (20) was once in love with Unity Kazito Madima (32) who failed to stomach the fact that Tamia had moved on and found a new lover in Taedza Sithole (27).

Police said Madima tried to win back Tamia's heart, but in vain.

Tamia was now cohabiting with Sithole at Bhobho Restaurant where she would spend most of her nights. This did not go down well with Madima.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Inspector Enock Chishiri said: "Madima went to Bhobho Restaurant at night to plead with Tamia to take him back in her life, but she would not budge.

"She even refused to open the door for him since it was late. Security guards on duty at nearby shops asked him to leave. He later came back armed with a knife and broke into the restaurant where Tamia was sleeping with Sithole. Madima stabbed Sithole once in the neck. He sustained a deep cut."

A police report was made leading to Madima's arrest.

Sithole was rushed to a nearby clinic where he was transferred to Chipinge District Hospital.

He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

"Madima was arrested and investigations are in progress. We encourage people to resolve their differences amicably," said Insp Chisiri.
