A qualified teacher at Oldonio Primary School in Hurungwe East, Ward 19, has been barred from attending classes since opening day by a gang of Zanu PF thugs led by the notorious ward councilor, one Clever Zinyemba and the Zanu PF chairperson for Oldonio.
Zinyemba, and the chairperson of Oldonio identified only as Manjengwa and the school SDC Chairperson signed and served an eviction notice to the teacher via the school head under unclear circumstances.
The MDC-T Mashonaland West Province spokesperson, Blessing Mandava said the province condemned this barbaric act as it is clear violation of the children's right to education and also a clear violation of the teacher's fundamental civic and labour rights as enshrined in the new constitution of Zimbabwe.
He said the trio is not qualified to speak or act on behalf of either the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education or The Civil Service Commission. The MDC-T believes that if a civil servant engages in an act of misconduct, proper procedures should be followed so that it is government and not political parties that is seen to be instituting disciplinary measures
"It is now Zinyemba's habit to arbitrary violate people's rights and disturb the education of minors as he was also instrumental in the eviction of many families at Medbury Farm in 2012 during the rainy season which saw many pupils dropping out of school due to his heartless acts of terror," Mandava added.
He said: "If such reckless attitude and hostile action against professionals is not nipped in the bud this Province will surely lose the few professionals it currently has to other provinces".
Meanwhile, a Zanu PF chairperson for Uroi in Hurungwe East, one Happy Kapumha has allegedly occupied the field of an MDC-T activist, Stephen Zanamwe. Zanamwe was lawfully allocated the field a decade ago and has legitimate documents to prove ownership.
