A CENTRAL Intelligence Officer who assaulted his love rival has been slapped with a $50 fine.
Justin Zano Mutsindikwa, 38, who was being represented by Freddy Machokoto, was warned that failure to pay the fine, he would be jailed for 10 days.
In sentencing Justin, Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe revealed that the court had considered that he was a fist time offender who readily pleaded guilty hence did not waste the court's time.
State, led by prosecutor Francisca Mukumbiri, proved that Justin and Freedom Tatenda Mandasi, 27, were both having an affair with Thandokile Mandizvidza.
It was proved that Justin was the first to have won Thandokile's heart and he realised that she was cheating on him with Freedom.
Agreed facts are that Justin made his findings, to the point of getting Freedom's phone number and on November 14, he called him (Freedom) wanting to know what connection he had with his girl.
And Justin was told point blank by Freedom that he was also dating Thandokile.
The court heard that Justin was infuriated and they agreed to meet as he (Justin) was in the company of Thandokile and drove to where Freedom was.
The discussion however was not going to please Justin and Thandokile gave him a 'red card' as it were, as she told him him that she was no longer in love with him.
Justin assaulted Thandokile and when he wanted to continue inflicting harm, Freedom decided to be the man and stand up for his girl but it also led to him getting a fair share of slaps.
Freedom sustained some injuries though he did not seek medical attention but he lodged a police report which led to Justin being arrested.
