A HARARE man has appeared in court for allegedly assaulting his wife after she refused to reveal her phone's password.
Raviro Makwara told the Harare Civil Court yesterday that her husband Tinotenda Makwara was in the habit of verbally abusing her in front of their children.
Raviro was seeking a protection order against Tinotenda whom she accused of breaching her peace.
"I am fed up of being verbally and physically abused by this man over petty issues," she said.
She told magistrate Ms Ruth Kamangira that she had since moved out of their matrimonial home with the children to avoid Tinotenda's violent behaviour.
"I don't want him to come to my new place of residence or to visit my workplace at Harare Central Prison because he is disturbing my peace and embarrassing me."
Tinotenda denied the allegations saying he only physically abused Raviro once after she refused to give him her mobile phone's security code.
"I don't physically abuse her every time as she is alleging. I only did that once when she refused to give me her mobile phone's password," he said.
Tinotenda pleaded with Ms Kamangira not to bar him from going to Raviro's place of residence, saying that would also stop him from seeing his children.
Ms Kamangira granted the order in Raviro's favour which barred Tinotenda from physically or verbally abusing her.
She also barred Tinotenda from visiting his wife's workplace at Harare Central Prison unless he gets arrested.
