An 18-year-old prostitute who stole $185 from her "client" was on Tuesday sentenced to 15 days in prison or $30 fine after she pleaded guilty to the charge before Mbare magistrate Ms Precious Muzondo.

Munashe Brenda Tembo, of Hopely, told the court that she knew exactly what she was doing when she stole the money from Kudzanai Mudzonga (32).

"I admit that I committed the crime. I needed the money and I took it from him since he had flashed the money in my face.

"Besides, I took advantage of his drunkenness and I knew that he would not be able to catch me," she said.

Facts are that on November 12 last year at around 9pm at Mbudzi roundabout, Mudzonga met Tembo at a canteen.

The two agreed to have sex and that Mudzonga would pay $10 for Tembo's services. However, Tembo was given $50 as 'collateral' and they agreed that after being intimate Tembo would return $40 to Mudzonga.

The pair agreed to go to Tembo's house for the night but before they reached the house they turned into a nearby bush and had sex. Tembo stole $150 from Mudzonga but dropped $5 while fleeing the scene. Mudzonga gave chase but failed to catch up with her. Tembo was later arrested at Hopely Farm.

Mr Fanuel Madanire prosecuted.
