WI-FI poacher arrested

A MAN, who was in the habit of 'poaching' WI-FI network from his former employer and downloading por-nographic material and movies, has been arrested.
Givemore Banda, 25, appeared at the Harare magistrates' court charged with unauthorised access to or use of computer network and possessing pornographic material.
He was not asked to plead to the charges when he appeared before magistrate Tendai Mahwe.
Prosecutor Sharon Mashavira had it that sometime in May last year, the director of MyCyber Internet Cafe started experiencing some congestion in the system when downloading. It was said that they made an investigation into the matter and discovered that Banda was abusing the WI-FI network since he had passwords.
Banda once worked for MyCyber Internet Cafe as an office assistant responsible for assisting walk-in clients.
The court heard that the director warned Banda of his actions before dismissing him from work.
Banda went to rent an office which was next to MyCyber Internet Cafe after his dismissal from work
The internet cafe started experiencing some congestion days after Banda set up his own business in the next office.
It was said that on February 3 this year, the director of MyCyber was tipped that Banda was accessing their WI-FI before approaching him
Magistrate Mahwe heard that Banda immediately dosed his laptop and packed it in his bag
Reports were that staff from MyCyber asked him to open his laptop and show them his downloads but he refused which attracted the attention of a police detail who was nearby who then intervened
Banda opened his laptop and it was dis-covered that he was accessing WI-FI network from MyCyber.
It was also discovered that he was using certain software to download movies and p-rnographic material
Prosecutor Mashavira also alleges that Banda had internet networks of the High Court and one called Private Investigations saved in his laptop despite the feet that he is not employed in government He was arrested and later taken to court
