Pregnancy TERMINATOR jailed

A WOMAN who assisted another woman in the termination of a six-month pregnancy was yesterday jailed for eight months.
Joyce Nkhuku, of N0.1575 Stopover in Epworth, was initially slapped with a 12 months jail term when she appeared at the Harare magistrates court.
She had four months of her jail term set aside for five years on condition that she does not commit a similar offence within that period.
Magistrate Tendai Mahwe slapped her with thejail term after she admitted to assisting Tarisai Mutungwa's pregnancy.
It was said on February 5 at around 0500hrs police received information to the effect that someone had dumped a baby in a bush near Ruwa River.
The court heard that Constable Constance Chamboko proceeded to Tarisai's place of residence during the course ofher investigations.
Constable Chamboko was told that Tarisai was at her grandmother's place of residence.
She managed to locate her and was told that she was assisted to terminate the pregnancy by Joyce.
It was said that Joyce gave Tarisai a liquid to drink resulting in the termination of the pregnancy on February 6.
