A CHITUNGWIZA man has been fined for slitting a teenager with a razor blade after a misunderstanding over a debt.

Zacharia Chibaduki used a razor blade on Horizon Mutandiro, demanding his money.

The teenager reportedly said he did not have money, which irked Chibaduki.

Chibaduki appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Lazarus Murendo answering to allegations of assault.

He was convicted and slapped with a US$100 fine while failure to pay attracts 30 days imprisonment.

A further two months imprisonment was wholly suspended on condition of good behaviour in the next five years.

It is said on February 2 the complainant was on his way to a shopping centre when he was stopped by Chibaduki who demanded his money from him.

The complainant reportedly said he did not have the money and Chibaduki grabbed his left hand and arm twisted him.

He went on to slit the complainant with a razor blade.

He then shoved him to the ground and began kicking him.

The complainant got up and approached the police and filed a report leading to the arrest of Chibaduki.

State counsel Norman Koropi prosecuted.
