'Zanu-PF is supreme, and not subject to the courts,' says Mugabe

President Robert Mugabe says Zanu-PF is supreme and that no party member should think that they are above it.
Addressing members of the Politburo behind closed doors, Mugabe said the party's principles and rules are not subject to the courts.
In apparent reference to the recent actions by the former Secretary for Administration Didymus Mutasa in which he wrote to the African Union and SADC asking the regional groupings to intervene following his ouster from the leadership of the party, Mugabe said the party has structures and rules that should be followed by any party member to address concerns and not another means.
He appealed to the party's Politburo members to thoroughly study and understand the provisions of party's constitution which he said is supreme.
Mugabe also appealed to the Politburo and other senior leaders of the party to encourage every party member to work hard for the unity of the party saying Zanu-PF should move as a family.
He said Zimbabweans are a sovereign people and that they should not agree to be mortgaged to anyone.
In the same meeting, the Secretary for Administration Dr Ignatious Chombo gave a report on the reorganisation of the party and the need for some renovations to be undertaken at the headquarters to ensure it matches its status of being the ruling party's headquarters.
In the commissariat report, National Political Commissar Saviour Kasukuwere urged members to be united and to move together in peace for the development of the country through implementation of ZIM ASSET.
The Secretary for Youth Affairs, Pupurai Togarepi briefed the Politburo that all is set for the 21st February Movement celebrations to be held in Victoria Falls on the 28th of this month.
The youth appealed to well-wishers for further assistance to ensure the celebrations of the movement are a success.
This year's celebrations will be held under the theme: ‘Celebrating the Birth of Gushungo and the Champion of Youth Empowerment'.
The Secretary for External Affairs Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, who was attending the Politburo for the first time since his appointment, briefed the members on the recent unanimous election of Mugabe as chairman of the continental body and his recommendation at the summit that Mwalimu Julius Nyerere be honoured for his role in helping the liberation of Southern Africa.
