Harare - Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Friday warned those who choose to violate the law would face the full wrath despite their societal status.
Speaking during the handover of awards to 65 detectives at Morris Depot in Harare, Commissioner Solomon Mubatapasango, said criminals had no breathing space within society.
"Our crime detection rate increased by seven percent last year and now stands at 52 percent a development which should serve as a strong warning to criminals.
"Allow me ladies and gentlemen to take this opportunity to warn criminals that the Zimbabwe Republic of Police, as the bastion of excellent policing regionally and internationally, will always ensure that those that have the insatiable appetite to violate the law of the land are brought to book regardless of their status and standing in society," said Mubatapasango.
However, he, applauded society for helping detectives with information to untangle the criminal web.
"Allow me at this juncture to express my appreciation to all those who come to the aid of the detectives with information and any assistance of any kind in this war to untangle the criminal web," he said. Comm Mubatapasango presented certificates and cash prizes to the 69 detectives facilitated by the director CID Senior Assistant Commissioner Munyonga.
Among the 65 who received prizes, two were women.
The prizes were awarded to detective of the first, second, third and fourth quarter of the year for January to December 2014.
