A 43-year-old teacher who was assisting pupils with extra lessons, yesterday appeared in court charged with indecent assault after he allegedly molested a 13-year-old pupil.
Christopher Sachikonye of number 3393 Glen Norah A, appeared before Mbare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma charged with indecent assault.
He denied the allegations and Ms Tshuma remanded him out of custody on $100 bail.
She deferred the matter to February19 for trial.
The prosecutor Mr Fanuel Madanire alleged that on December 15 Sachikonye was hired by the girl's parents to help the girl prepare for her Form One lessons.
The court heard that Sachikonye visited the girl's house and conducted lessons in the sitting room.
It is alleged that the two would sit on different couches during the lessons but one day in the middle of a lesson Sachikonye allegedly sat on the same couch with the girl.
It is the state's case that Sachikonye began to fondle the girl's breasts without her consent and when the girl tried to resist, he told her that her rejection was the main reason why she was failing Mathematics in class.
The court heard that the girl did not tell anyone at home, but only confided in a friend when she got back to school.
The friend advised the girl to tell her parents as Sachikonye's behaviour would lead to rape if not reported early.
The girl wrote a letter to her mother and a report was made to the police leading to Sachikonye's arrest.
