Man,25, rapes granny, 83

A 25-year-old man from Mutasa appeared before Nyanga provincial magistrate Mr Ignatio Mhene facing charges of raping an 83- year-old granny.

It is alleged that Cleopas Nyamuswa of Sambaza Village under Chief Mutasa did the unthinkable act on February 13, where he went to the complainant's house at night and forced open the door.

He then proceeded to the bed where the old woman was sleeping, and raped her once.

"The complainant had to be rescued by her son Amaoeus Makokowe after she had screamed for help. Amaoeus caught Cleopas in the act," the court heard.

He was remanded out of custody to February 26.
