Matabeleland North provincial minister Cain Mathema last Friday left  his Zanu-PF Politburo colleagues in stitches after he called for chilli pepper towards the hosting of President Robert Mugabe's birthday next Saturday.

Zanu-PF politburo members from Matabeleland North met in Victoria Falls to finalise preparations for Mugabe's birthday party.

In the meeting, Professor Jonathan Moyo donated 20 head of cattle towards the function while Obert Mpofu donated $4000 and Jacob Mudenda two beasts.

When attention shifted to Mathema, he said, "lapha badala konke sokwenziwe, osokusele kuphela libilebile. Kuzamele omunye asinike ibilebile.  (Here all has been donated, what is left is chilli pepper. Someone will need to donate chilli pepper for us)

The house erupted into laughter after Mathema's statements, calculated to evade making contributions for the party.
