Govt official fired for altering pays

A senior payroll clerk from Public Service Commission (PSC) was fired after he reportedly altered his payslip to secure a loan, the Supreme Court has heard.
Paul Garwe approached the Supreme Court yesterday, challenging his dismissal from the PSC. In his application, he said the PSC did not follow proper procedures when it handled his dismissal.
Garwe, who was not represented by a lawyer, said the allegation levelled against him did not constitute a contravention of the Public Service Regulation.
"The finding of guilty had no basis in evidence and was arrived at without the benefit of crucial evidence."
