5 die in road accident

Five people have died in a road accident a few kilometres outside Banket along the Birkdale-Mapinga road.

ZRP Spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi confirmed the fatal accident that yesterday afternoon.

He said the driver of a Nissan Serena failed to negotiate a curve and the vehicle veered off the road.

One person died on the spot, two died on the way to hospital while the other died on admission at Banket Hospital.

The deceased are: Memory Chiyange (12) Noria Mberikwazvo (28), Tapiwa Muzavazi (24), Mollita Chiyange (24) and Collins Makumbe all of Vivelkia farm school in Mvurwi.

Chief Superintendent Nyathi urged drivers to exercise caution and safe guard lives.
