Gumbura masterminded failed Chikurubi jail break

Government has contained the riots at Chikurubi Maximum Prison with investigations showing that more than 100 dangerous criminals were involved in an escape bid allegedly masterminded by jailed disgraced cleric, Robert Martin Gumbura.
Acting President Emmerson Mnangagwa who is also the Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, said the disturbances at Chikurubi were a manipulated and careful planning by dangerous inmates who include Gumbura.
Mnangagwa confirmed this during this week's question without notice session in parliament.
Legislator Simon Chidakwa had asked what government is doing about the conditions of the inmates in all prisons around the country, to which Mnangagwa replied that security has been enhanced and the perpetrators put in penal section.
Mnangagwa also revealed that the correctional services have enough food reserves to last the next seven months although they have asked treasury to avail funding to improve on inmates' clothing.
