Gutu, Maziwisa tiff escalates

The tiff between MDC spokesperson Obert Gutu and Zanu-PF junior spokesperson Psychology Maziwisa escalated yesterday, with the latter branding the former a "fool" who is "intellectually bankrupt".
The beef between the two spokespersons began when Maziwisa issued a statement this week defending the inclusion of President Robert Mugabe's daughter Bona in the Japan trip. He later went on State television attacking MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai.
Gutu responded to Maziwisa by pouring scorn and vitriol on the Zanu-PF junior spokesperson, warning that he risked "unmasking his rather unusual and controversial personal lifestyle".
Maziwisa then yesterday accused Gutu of having brains of a 5-year-old.
Maziwisa accused Gutu of being "emotional, stupid, intellectually bankrupt and completely out of his depth".
"He is a 53-year-old with the brain of a 5-year-old," Maziwisa said. "He needs to shut up and spend a bit of time learning from the best.
"Moreover, his miserable attempt at defending Tsvangirai's wretched leadership record was particularly laughable. Gutu needs to appreciate that no matter how much lipstick you put on a dog, it still remains a dog."
The Zanu-PF spokesperson further said Gutu was a poor spokesperson.
Instead of responding to my statement point by point, as would be expected from a normal spin doctor, Gutu decided instead to go personal, ignoring my argument completely, and doing such a sordid job in his attempt to defend Morgan Tsvangirai's despicable leadership style," he said.
"Of course none of this surprised me at all. There is a certain level of depth, logic, detachment and intellectual capacity that any serious spokesperson must possess.
"Gutu, for all his nominal claim to the contrary, possesses none of that."
Gutu on Thursday said Maziwisa was a "moral pervert man" who had a "dubious character and controversial personal lifestyle".
"In a typical Mugabe hero-worshipping fashion, Maziwisa, a moral pervert himself, had nothing substantial to tell the nation to prove his point except to attack Morgan Tsvangirai's personality with his foul and unmeasured diatribe," Gutu said.
"It is absolutely shocking and uncivilised for someone with such a dubious character and controversial personal lifestyle to denigrate the former prime minister of the Republic of Zimbabwe in such a crass and uncouth manner.
"This Maziwisa boy desperately needs expert psychiatric attention to help him cope with the hazards that come with leading a rather controversial lifestyle."
