'Stop militarizing NPA'
25 Mar 2015 at 04:02hrs | Views
Lawyers have slammed government for militarizing the National Prosecuting Authority by seconding members of the army, a move they say violets the constitution.
Following the recent assault of the deputy prosecutor-general and director of the recently established NPA, Florence Ziyambi at her work place allegedly by NPA employee colonel Solomon Siziba, the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights yesterday expressed concern at the presence of military personnel in the institution.
According to Ziyambi's police report, two senior army officials, a major Msipa and one major Manyeruke, are currently on secondment from the army.
In a statement, the ZLHR called for non-violence against women, both in the private and public spheres.
