Man touches wife's privates, suspects infidelity

A MUTARE man forcibly touched his wife's private parts to check whether she was not cheating on him at her workplace before severely assaulting her recently.

The horrible news was revealed in court by Rose Katso who said her husband, Edmore Mapezuweyi, suspected that she was having extra-marital affairs with several other men from her workplace and decided to apply his unorthodox testing method.

Mrs Annie Ndiraya presided over the matter at the Mutare Civil Courts.

According to Manica Post, the court heard that on several occasions, Mapezuweyi after picking his wife from work, would forcibly insert his hand into her panties and declared that she would have had sex with another man from her workplace.

"Your Worship, I have had enough of this man's incessant assaults and abuses. I am his wife, but he sexually abuses me.

"Most times after picking me up from work, he forcibly puts his hand into my panties to check whether I had slept with another man. He would shout at me afterwards, accusing me of infidelity," she explained.

Katso told the court that Mapezuweyi uses vulgar words and that he was in the habit of kicking her as well as attacking her with fists.

She said at one time she was forced to seek medical treatment after being assaulted.

"I had to get medical treatment after he had severely assaulted me. He is my husband. I love him, but I want the insults to stop. I have never cheated on him and I wonder where he gets these notions that I cheat from," asked Katso.

Mapezuweyi did not deny the allegations that were being levelled against him. He told the court that he would be disciplining her since he had paid bride price for her.

"Of course, I assault her and I want my wife to forgive me. Jealous is the cause and I cannot help it when I see her talking to another man," he responded.

Mrs Ndiraya warned Mapezuweyi against physically and sexually abusing his wife.

"Gone are the days when the girl child and wife were considered as minors. You do not discipline your wife for she is a human being equal to you and you risk going to prison by forcibly putting your hands in her panties without her consent.

"You are so lucky that she did not report you to the police for contravening her rights as a woman," said Mrs Ndiraya.

The protection order which bars Mapezuweyi from sexually and physically abusing his wife Katso was granted.
