A JEALOUS Mutare woman who could not fathom seeing her husband leaving the matrimonial house to stay with another woman burnt his car which was parked at his new-found love's residence.

The incident, which attracted a big crowd in Dangamvura high-density suburb, went viral on social networks as people shared the macabre real-life drama.

Tapuwa Kaicho of Area 16 from the same suburb has since been arrested by the police after she burnt her husband, Felix Violla's, Nissan March vehicle last Wednesday.

Kaicho suspected that her husband was seeing one Mai Kimberly or Emilia who resides at a nearby brothel-like location popularly known as Pamudhadhadha.

Before Wednesday's inferno, the enraged Kaicho had visited Emilia at House Number 5313 Area 3 Dangamvura the previous night and broke the car's windscreen saying she will come back soon to burn it.

Kaicho kept her word, bought five litres of petrol, doused the vehicle with the petrol and set it alight.

She watched it burn from a distance.

When The Weekender visited the scene different stories were being told by witnesses and neighbours with some saying Kaicho was not supposed to have burnt the vehicle because her husband was not in love with anyone at Pamudhadhadha.

They said he was a regular at the place as he would be buying beer which is sold illegally at the house.

Some said Violla had fallen head over heels with Emilia resulting in him abandoning his wife and children.

An elderly woman, Mbuya Kim, who is Emilia's mother, said Kaicho was not supposed to burn the vehicle because her husband was not in love with her daughter.

"The car was parked here because it's broken down. It had been parked there for more than three weeks. We had a party some weeks ago and the car failed to start and her husband left it here.

"Violla is just a friend and he comes and drinks from time to time.

"Tapuwa acted without even getting to the bottom of the story. Violla was not even here when this took place. Last night she was restrained from burning the car but she managed to break the windscreen," she said.

However, neighbours had a different story to tell.

They said Kaicho's husband was staying at the brothel for quite sometime.

They said the place was being frequented by several men who came to have a nice time with women of loose morals who stay there.

"I moved in three months ago but what I have noticed in those few months is unbearable.

"Prostitution is rife here and a lot of men come here for the ladies," said a neighbour who refused to be identified.

Both Kaicho and Violla were not reachable at the time of going to print.
