Zimbabwe's teachers, reeling from poor remuneration and working conditions want government to allow them to import cars without paying duty.

PTUZ says this would help teachers who majority in the rural areas resort to walking long distances to access their salaries.

Takavafira Zhou, PTUZ President said government should just accept that teachers should import duty free car in five years.

Zhou's call is likely to fall on deaf ears as the government is battling chronic financial problems which have seen its revenue base dwindle due to company closures and biting economy.
