The Constitutional Court has dismissed an application by fired former Zanu-PF legislators Didymus Mutasa and Temba Mliswa who were challenging their dismissal from parliament.
The full constitutional bench unanimously agreed that the application had no merit.
Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku indicated that the reason for the dismissal of the application will be released in due course.
Mutasa and Mliswa who were represented by Professor Lovemore Madhuku argued that Speaker of the National Assembly infringed on their rights by declaring their constituencies vacant.
However, the Speaker of the National Assembly represented by Mr Simplisiyo Chihambakwe argued that the Speaker acted in terms of the law.
Mr Terrence Hussein who was representing the President gave a brief argument saying the application by the two former legislators was misplaced.
In an interview, Professor Madhuku said he accepts the decision by the country's highest court.
