Political parties have slammed the recent increase of the Ordinary Level examination fees describing the move as unconstitutional and counter progressive.

Last week, the minister of education, Lazurus Dokora announced the "O" Level examination fees from $13 to $15 while parents are now also expected to contribute towards the cost of the Grade 7 examination.

This announcement has not been well received in different quarters of the society and other various stakeholders in what has been largely viewed as an affront to the economically distressed Zimbabweans.

The minister, who has in the past come under fire for his controversial decisions, argued that the decision was necessary as it led to a balance of affordability and the need to secure system credibility.
