The just-ended Easter holiday was the most accident free in recent years with the police saying the deployment of many officers on roads produced positive results.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Chief Staff Officer of Press and Public Relations, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said the 2015 Easter holiday recorded 10 fatal road accidents while 2014 had 19.

The number of people killed during this Easter holiday also went down from last year's 19 to 10 this year.

Prior to the Easter period, police launched a joint effort with the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ) on public road safety awareness.

Meanwhile, police have also urged motorists to exercise caution on roads regardless of whether they are driving during holidays or not, saying the road safety should be a consistent culture on a daily basis.
