President Robert Mugabe has returned home from the historic visit to South Africa, where he struck agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with his counterpart, President Zuma.

He was met at the Harare International Airport by Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Simon Khaya Moyo, the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda, service chiefs and other government officials.

While in South Africa, Mugabe held closed door deliberations with President Zuma, which culminated in the signing of five bilateral agreements and three memoranda of understanding (MoUs), which are expected to upgrade ties between the two countries.

The agreements include the one on the establishment of a bi-national commission, MoU on diplomatic consultations, an agreement on mutual assistance between customs administrations, and an agreement on cooperation in water resource management and establishment and functioning of the joint water commission.

President Mugabe also met the South African Vice President, Cyril Ramaphosa before attending a dinner hosted for him by President Zuma.
